Today I learned that there is life outside of the school building walls on the first day of school! Wow--what a different feeling. Cooper and I went to Walmart, then met 2 friends for lunch at a restaurant near my old school. They are both newly retired from teaching. (In other words, they didn't know what to do today either!) We had a nice time catching up on each other's summers...and we didn't even have to watch the clock. Well, I admit, I did a little. Cooper had to be fed and all... I did drop by the school and leave a bag of Skittles for my dear friend Loren. We always seemed to have candy or chocolate or something for each other just when we needed it. I hope it comes in handy for her today and makes her smile.
It's definitely a whole new world out here. I know how exhausted my friends at work are--and even were before the day started. Know that I'm praying for you out here beyond the walls!
