Happy Birthday to our sweet Cooper!
Since he was diagnosed with the flu yesterday, our celebration was put on hold. No party this weekend, but soon. Yesterday he was pretty miserable, with lots of coughing and fever hitting 102. Thankfully, he was feeling much better this morning and almost fever-free most of the day. He was excited about today being his birthday, saying, "I'm three! Yipee!", on several occasions. He had a hard time understanding why he couldn't have his party. This morning he said, "Where are all my friends?" I finally figured out that he was ready for his party to start and was wondering where the guests were! (He was still in his pajamas at this point.) Poor baby!
The day was fun, but fairly low-key. (We alternated playing with cleaning and disinfecting the house.) The highlights were phone calls: from Daddy at work, and all of Coop's grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins. We were sad we didn't get to see them in person, but they sure made his day by calling!
We also weren't able to get out to dinner as we hoped, so we visited the Chick-Fil-A drive thru and brought home a special dinner instead.
I tried to get Coop to let me put a candle in a piece of "Zoo"* bread so we could sing to him, but he wasn't hungry after all those yummy chicken nuggets and waffle fries. *("Zoo" bread = zucchini bread--Coop's favorite!)
After dinner, Mommy & Daddy gave him one special present to open. (We agreed to save the rest for the upcoming party.)
(Please pardon the poorly wrapped present! Mommy didn't have as much wrapping paper as she first thought, and didn't get out again after he started feeling poorly on Tuesday afternoon.)
We love you so much and are so grateful to God
for giving us such a special gift.
