Cooper Ryan Chaddrick, 2-18-08Wow...How on earth did 2 whole years go by so quickly? I'm feeling so many different things as I think about the past 2 years...how my daily life has changed because of you. I haven't graded a stack of papers in 2 years...filled out report cards...written a lesson plan...been bored to death at a teacher inservice meeting...Hallelujah!
So many things that were my daily routine are out there in some other world, replaced by such a sweet, smiling face. You are truly a gift from God!
My perspective has completely shifted and I am depending on God in a whole new way. I pray every day that God would give us the wisdom to teach you His truth completely and thoroughly. The verses in my devotional time today are so appropriate as a prayer for you. And, perhaps meant just for you. I'm reading through the One Year Bible, and this is what was arranged for today's reading...
"Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;" Psalm 37:3-7a.
There's so much more in that chapter...contrasting the righteous and the wicked. I don't know what the LORD has planned for your life, Cooper Ryan. But I am praying for your righteousness--righteousness that comes only from the blood of Jesus. I'm praying that your love of reading will transfer right into a love of reading God's word, and in knowing it well...well enough to live by it in a way that others take notice. I'm praying that God will give you the desires of your heart...but also that your heart will desire to seek Him first. I'm praying that you will be content with your life, whatever it brings. That's not an easy lesson...it's a continuous process. Being the child of two teachers, you'll certainly know what it's like to do without some of the things the world deems necessary for happiness. But the world is lost. The things it can give you cannot make you happy. I pray we can be examples of contentment for you. That you will always find joy in the little things...the things that God has specifically chosen for your life.
I thank God for you every day, precious one. You are our one and only, miracle baby. And I love you more than you'll ever know...
Happy Birthday, Cooper!
