Happy Birthday Cooper!

Well, somehow it happened. My baby boy is now a little boy, and he's a whole year old!
We had his party on Saturday. Just a small gathering with family: Gran & Pop, Grandma & Pa, Aunt Lindsay, Uncle Tony, Kaitlyn & Kennedy, "Aunt" Debbie, and of course Mommy & Daddy. We were sad that his cousin Katie got sick and didn't get to come (Uncle Greg & Auntie Char, too!) Luckily we will get to see them (and their new Golden Retriever puppy, Max!) next weekend.
Cooper didn't sleep well the night before--not due to party anticipation, but due to a cold and slight fever. But, the party went on! Coop wasn't quite sure what to make of the decorations and such, but he was glad to see everyone. After brunch, it was time to open all of the gifts.

I thought he might at least help pull tissue out of the bag, but he was content to wait and see what I pulled out.

Cousins Kaitlyn & Kennedy were so cute in their party dresses. They were impressively patient during the gift opening, too. They waited and watched and did a great job of showing Cooper how to play with all of his new presents. They were so sweet!

Peek-a-boo!

Some gifts were very interesting...

Some gifts were tastier than others...

A book about trucks will go a long way with Coop!

And an actual truck? He's in heaven!

Time for tasty treats! "Aunt" Debbie decorated Coop's cake, and made the unbelievably decadent chocolate cake for the grown-ups. YUM!

He loved the balloons. This big one even sang "Happy Birthday!" We still have a few hanging up in the dining room!

Happy Birthday to you! Blow out the candle!

He was NOT interested at all at first. His appetite has changed drastically in the past couple of weeks. So, I'm not sure if it was that, or just too much excitement.

We finally got him to taste the frosting, then the cake. And he at least licked his fingers. Wouldn't play in the cake, though. Later that afternoon, when Daddy was eating a cupcake and gave him a bite, he begged for more. I knew he'd come around!

Happy Birthday sweet Cooper! We love you so much! You are the best gift of all.
